Blurb

Beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Starts with Us, It Ends with Us, and All Your Perfects returns with an unforgettable love story between a writer and his unexpected muse.

Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon’s last day in Los Angeles together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Can Ben’s relationship with Fallon—and simultaneously his novel—be considered a love story if it ends in heartbreak?

Triggers

There isn’t much in this book but there weren’t any triggers I saw listed. Here are some of the potential sensitive content that I observed:

  • Alcohol
  • Cancer
  • Death
  • Fire
  • Sexually Explicit Scenes (brief)
  • Suicide
  • Violence (brief and not between FMC and MMC)

Overall Rating

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I started reading this book on November 9, which is my Husband’s birthday! Totally not important to this review but I wanted to add it! This is also my first CoHo book! I have heard so much (SOOOO MUCH) about Colleen Hoover and I have been so reluctant to finally read something of hers because of the controversy! But, I’ve just been so interested in this book since I read the blurb. Let me say that it delivered! I was entertained, thoroughly, by this book! I did shed a tear reading this book several times (cried like a baby!) and I loved it!

Let me say that, I don’t totally love Fallon but I totally love Ben. There’s so much to love about an MMC who works hard to prove themselves to the FMC. He was funny but sensitive. He was seemingly always saying the wrong thing but it was somehow the right thing. A cute quirk to have lol I liked that he was also relentless about his love for Fallon. There was just something about Fallon that didn’t really connect for me but I think she and Ben really worked well together.

I really liked the premise of this book and the big reveal had me running through my house asking, “How do I recover?!”, for a good 10 minutes! It was pretty good! I am still kinda reeling even after finishing the book but if you love a MMC who GROVELS/Atones for his wrongs then phew! You need to pick this one up!

Am I going to go grab every CoHo book ever published? No. Not because I didn’t like this book but because I don’t love crying over books. I’ve read other blurbs from her and there seems to be a tragedy in most of them. I prefer Rom-Coms and to laugh when I’m reading! Although… I will be more willing to read some others from her but it’s going to be a while before I pick up another.
