The New York Times bestselling author of The Wedding Date serves up a novel about what happens when a public proposal doesn’t turn into a happy ending, thanks to a woman who knows exactly how to make one on her own…
When someone asks you to spend your life with him, it shouldn’t come as a surprise—or happen in front of 45,000 people.
When freelance writer Nikole Paterson goes to a Dodgers game with her actor boyfriend, his man bun, and his bros, the last thing she expects is a scoreboard proposal. Saying no isn’t the hard part—they’ve only been dating for five months, and he can’t even spell her name correctly. The hard part is having to face a stadium full of disappointed fans…
At the game with his sister, Carlos Ibarra comes to Nik’s rescue and rushes her away from a camera crew. He’s even there for her when the video goes viral and Nik’s social media blows up—in a bad way. Nik knows that in the wilds of LA, a handsome doctor like Carlos can’t be looking for anything serious, so she embarks on an epic rebound with him, filled with food, fun, and fantastic sex. But when their glorified hookups start breaking the rules, one of them has to be smart enough to put on the brakes…

Overall Rating
4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved Nik and Carlos’s dynamic! They were the very best of the friends to lovers type of romance! I enjoyed their easy way of falling in love and the hilarious conversations they had because Nik is a nut lol Both of these characters were chill and just easy going, they made so much sense together! Both foodies and just really chill. They have the same sense of humor. I love their chill vibe. Nik is a leather jacket wearing freelance writer and Carlos is a hipster non hipster pediatrician.
Carlos is sweet and he has such a big heart! He loves his family and takes on the role of patriarch even when they want him to just take care of himself. The loss of his father changes him in ways he can’t see until Nik comes into his life. Plus, a man who can cook and loves to do it, is a dub every time!!!
Nik has so many reasons to be cautious of love and relationship but I love her boss B!tch mentality about her work and how much she cares for her friends! She’s had me laughing at her antics. I definitely want to join the self defense class, she and her friends take, sounds like so much fun!
This book was heartfelt and vulnerable but also spicy with the easy (read: HOT 🥵) chemistry between Nik and Carlos.
I would recommend this story and the audiobook was fantastic, as well!!
