They say everything happens in threes.
Good luck and misfortune.
I got fired, inherited my late-grandmother’s house, and moved across the country all in a weekend.
I thought I would get a reprieve, eager and excited to spend my summer with my cousin.
But no one warned me the rule of three could apply to men.
The charming playboy.
The enigmatic stranger.
The grumpy single dad.
Known collectively as the St. James men. And the most coveted bachelors in all of Rosewood. They run the Rosewood Reapers, an allegedly reformed motorcycle club. I find myself irresistibly drawn to all three of them in a way I can’t ignore.
So I don’t.
The only problem is, there are more secrets than people in this town. And I fear there’s one that could shake our very foundation.
Here is the potentially sensitive content that I observed while reading this book:
- Attempted murder
- Death of a loved one
- Sexual Content

There are possible **SPOILERS** beyond this point!
I really loved the start to the Rosewood series, Moonlit Temptation! I felt like I was able to really picture this small town so perfectly and really get a feel for what these characters are like. This was my first slow burn why choose novel, and I find myself being a really big fan! Everyone knows that why choose is not my favorite genre just because I feel like it is never enough characterization of the main characters for me to really fall for each lead. I really just end up falling for one MMC’s relationship with the FMC. But in this story, I found myself really being interested in all three of the bikers. I liked being able to see the beginnings of their romance with the female main character.
Evangeline is an FMC, who has a lot to sort of learn about Rosewood coming back as an adult and I liked being able to see all the cute shops and businesses through her narrative. She’s fun and has her goals set on trying something different after losing her job and gaining the house her beloved grandmother left her.
I thought the story was adorable and I really loved Nova! He gets to be the front runner being the cover star of this book, but also getting the most time with Evangeline in the story. And like I said, because this is a slower burn, I don’t feel like I missed out on the other MMCs because we are getting to learn them in a way that feels very natural and realistic for a poly relationship. I’m really excited to see where this goes and to learn more about Bane and Silas. There was just a little bit of spice in the story nothing too crazy but I can tell it’s gonna be gooooood when we get to see it in future books!
I am such a sucker for Alpha MMCs and small town romance! This story and these characters reeled me right in! I absolutely loved the small town vibes mixed with the suspense. I am desperate to know what happens next after that ending! Silas, Bane and Nova make me want to move to Rosewood ASAP! Looking forward to the next one!
There is sexually explicit language but nothing too spicy in this book. A bit of oral sex and heavy petting.

“you don’t ever need to be afraid with me. But I’m just curious about the person that I’m going to be spending all my time with.”
Nova: Don’t trust me, sweetheart?
Me: you gotta earn it first
Nova: oh, I’ll earn more than that
Me: promises, promises Nova: I always keep my word
“This is going to be a helluva story to tell our kids one day, baby girl,”
“I curl my fingers into his hair, and he sends me the most carnal grin I’ve ever seen. If sex was a smile, it’d be his.”
“It’s the kind of expression a man wears before the last threads of his control snap and he kisses the daylights out of you. It’s the look he wore before he ruined me just a little bit, just like he promised all those years ago.”
“It’s a look that makes my chest feel tight, like I’m not sure if she’s my salvation or my next obsession. Like she thinks I might be her salvation.”
“I don’t plan on hurting her. In fact, I plan on doing quite the opposite. Long, detailed, time-consuming plans.”
“I want to spoil you in all things, Evangeline.”
“You wanna go for a ride?”
“He tastes like moonlight and dark promises, and I’m lost to it.”
“That’s it, just like that. Ride my face, baby.”
“the man kisses me with a passion I thought was reserved for romance books and that famous war’s end kiss. We haven’t known each other long, but it doesn’t feel like that. It feels like we could coast through life together so, so easily. Nothing in my life has ever felt so effortless before. I could get addicted to him.”
“I thought you were my temptation alone, but now I know.”
“I had no way of knowing that my whispered words, drenched in lust and maybe even propelled by the looming end of summer vacation, would seal my fate years from now. That one day I might just die because he kissed me.”
“I might develop a taste, and then you’d never be clear of me.”
“What a beautiful, poisonous butterfly you are, Evangeline Carter.”
