Block Shot by Kennedy Ryan

Blurb

If Jared Foster had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made his heart skip a beat―the heart everyone assumes is frozen over―he’d be richer than he already is. He’s found success as a sports agent by always assuming “no” means “I’ll think about it.” And he knows Banner’s thinking about him. Her simmering anger? The way she puts him in his place? Foreplay. She thinks she’s won the game, but they’re just getting started.

If Banner had a dollar for every time Jared broke her heart, she’d have exactly one dollar. One epic failure of a night. After parting on such bad terms, Banner has no intention of ever giving Jared a second chance. She’s found success in a field ruled by men like him. She’s learned to call the shots and block them when she has to.

So she’ll ignore the way he makes her heart pound. Sure, he seems carved from her most private fantasies, but she can get past that.

She’s got her one dollar, and Jared won’t have her.

Overall Rating

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you’re new here, Hi 👋🏽, I’m obsessed with Block Shot! It’s my favorite of the Hoops series and is easily a 5⭐️ read each time I’ve read it!

I read this book for the first time in 2021 via ebook. I immediately read it again after I finished. I read it for a third time via Audio in 2022 and fell even harder for this book, thank you Teddy Hamilton!!

I just finished this book for a fourth time and I have no regrets rereading! The way Jared loves Banner and the unrelenting way he pursues her will never get old for me! I love a man obsessed and Jared, cannot get enough of Banner Morales 🥹 I love their history and the heartbreaking but beautiful journey for them to be together!

Banner, the FMC is the woman who is getting it done and inspiring others to do better! Literally, the woman to beat! The standard, if you will! I am her biggest fan girl 🙌🏽 There’s no one like her.

This book is emotional and spicy and a little bit forbidden but one hundred percent worth adding to your TBR! I highly recommend Block Shot to my sports romance lovers but also if you like Alphahole MMCs who are obsessed with their women!🧡

This book can absolutely be read as a standalone but I recommend the whole Hoops Series if you’re interested in this one! 🥰🫶🏽

“There will be men who fall in love with your skin and others who drown themselves in everything that lies beneath.”

The gulf between the truth and the lies we tell ourselves is filled with misery.

“I don’t give a damn about odds… Odds don’t tell me what I can’t do. Odds just tell me how hard I’ll have to work to get what I want. Don’t allow anyone to make you feel less.”

“the daughter of a lion is still a lion”

“She is day and I am night. When day and night are absolutely equal, it’s equinox. Banner is my equinox. My equal.“

“En las buenas y en las malas.”

“Odds don’t tell me what I can’t do. Odds just tell me how hard I’ll have to work to get what I want. Don’t allow anyone to make you feel less.”

“You want me to relieve you of the responsibility? ’Cause I’ll do it. I don’t mind being the villain, but between you and me, we’ll know that you want it as badly as I do. I’m just the one with the balls to make it happen.”

“I saw you first,” he whispers, kissing the bridge of my nose where my freckles are. “I had you first.” He kisses my face where the dimple dents my cheek when I smile. “I want you back,” he declares, meeting my eyes and taking my mouth in a deep kiss, never looking away.

“I’m too good for you.” “True,” I grin, tightening my hand at her waist. “But I’m going to have you anyway.”

“You’re so beautiful,” I whisper, my hands addicted to the feel of him. “It’s only a shell,” Jared says, his words seductive, his breathing more erratic. “I’ll crack it open for you and pour everything out.”
