The Villain by Nana Malone

Blurb

Guess who’s having the craziest week EVER?

That would be me.

Sunday: I get dumped by my boyfriend—right before a couple’s bungee jump.

Monday: My little sister informs me that she’s invited our evil, estranged mom to the wedding I’ve spent months helping her plan.

Wednesday: In an effort to escape Massimo Igno, this creepy friend of my future brother-in-law, I somehow end up making out with a tall, dark stranger who looks like Superman’s twin.

Thursday: Tall-dark-and Superman’s-Twin turns out to be my new high-profile client, and my now totally off-limits thinks-he’s-the-boss-of-me client is demanding I drop everything to come with him to Rome. Seriously, did I hunt baby polar bears in a past life or something? What did I do to deserve this? Of course, with my sister’s wedding to plan, I tell him no.

Friday: As it turns out, no isn’t an option. My sexy new “client” is actually a ruthless, dangerous criminal. Apparently, he and the creepy guy I was trying to dodge are arch-enemies. He’s been watching me for weeks, and he wants to use me to get to Massimo.

Unfortunately, I don’t discover any of this until after he steals me from my hotel room in the dead of night and deposits me at his remote British countryside estate.

Saturday: I decide to fight like hell to escape my gorgeous British country estate prison.

Now, the question going into next week is, will I be able to get away from stupid-hot-villain a-hole whose stare makes my tummy do things it shouldn’t, considering he’s kidnapped me?

And what will he do to me if he catches me?

Overall Rating

4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Villain was my first spy romance but it will definitely won’t be the last! Drake and Daphne we so cute together! I admired Daphne’s fire and how she never gave up even when faced with danger! She was resourceful and stood her ground. This lady can make anything a weapon! I was continually impressed by how badass Daphne was. She was so funny and I cackled at her narrative out loud often! Her backstory was as shocking as it was horrific and I just love Daphne even more for how she survived. Drake never stood a chance!

I loved how Drake cared for her even when he was kidnapping her lol They have their struggles at the beginning but I loved the redemption arc for Drake! He shows with actions more than just words how he loved Daphne even before he realized that he loved her. I love me a lil stalker romance and Drake took surveillance seriously when it came to Daphne. He was always trying to learn how to be better for her and I just love seeing an MMC who puts in the time to understand their partner’s needs.

Nana pulled all the spice out for this book! The tension and chemistry between these two characters was so high! I was sweating over some of these scenes! There was just enough sweetness to balance how hot this book was.

I’d recommend this story to those who love romantic comedy books with touch of dark! Thank you to the author for this advanced copy for review!

“All the blood in my head rushed south, leaving me with no functioning thought processes. All that was left were primal, desperate impulses to claim her. Mine. Mine. Mine.”

“She was just a pawn. One that I knew exactly how to play.”

“I don’t think it’s illegal to kiss women you might know. I did consent to the kiss. But I’ll tell you, it’s not fair. That’s for damn sure.”

“Kidnapping is such an ugly word. Think of it as momentarily restraining.”

“there was something about him that drew me in, something that made me feel safe when everything else about this situation screamed danger.”

“And as for Daphne Winslow, she was just going to have to get used to the fact that until I was ready to let her go, she was my property.”

“I couldn’t tell him that the more she fought me, the more I was inclined to keep her. The stronger she was, the more a little part of me admired her strength.”

“Fucking hell, you’ve drenched my hand, kitten. Be a bad girl and leave me a wet spot I’ll need to sleep in tonight. Come for me again.”

“Demons are true arseholes… They love to make us relive our worst memories, our deepest fears. And honestly, I’ve met a few in my line of work. It’s not my place to ask you to face yours, Daphne.”

“baby, every time you whimper like that, all I want to do is bury myself to the hilt.”

“Because not only are you mine to protect, you’re mine now.”

“I’ll always give you want you need, Kitten. All you have to do is ask,”

There she was, my heartbreak, my regret. The one thing I never saw coming.
