Souls and Sorrows gave me everything I wanted! For 250 million dollars, Cassius buys Ariana in an auction to keep her as his wife. His marriage to her gives him access to her family’s money and power. Ariana lives in her sister’s shadow and there’s is no denying how much depravity she endured in the dark. Her marriage to Cash seems like the lesser of the two evils. The attraction between Ariana Ricci and Cash Primrose was evident from the first time we see these two talk. They couldn’t trust each other until that trust was well and truly earned. And the journey to get there was full of reveals and trials and STEAM and murder! I loved being a part of them finding their way to love! This book is so much more enjoyable when you know the history of Cash and Ariana’s family though you could read it as a standalone. I can’t believe this is the first review I’ve written for the Monsters and Muses series. It is one of my favorite series and I love the covers for all of them! The cover for this one is just the prettiest and now probably the one I like best now!
New favorite brat and brat tamer! I was drawn to their dynamic and I could not stop reading!
Cash. My baby, Cash. I love you! He was the type of quiet, calm that’s intimidating. Consistent, reserved but imposing and I am a Cash stan. You never really know what he’s thinking but you better believe he is working it out! He was so calculated and cunning. There is probably no problem Cash couldn’t solve, until Ariana. I love how he was with her! He studies her and learns everything he can about her so that he could better care for and eventually love her. That kind of scrutiny would probably make anyone break but Ariana is meant for the spotlight. A match made in heaven! The way Cash would boss up on everyone had me weak! Like I said, he was quiet, but never think for one second that he was not prepared for any outcome! This man was strapped! He kept a .9 mil on his person in case anyone had any sordid ideas. With the glasses! I swear I am absolutely feral about his glasses!!! Sorry, I’m not sorry about how obsessed I am with this man. Brat tamer number one! If he can handle Ariana, the man is an expert.
Ariana is mercurial and sweet but also vicious! I love both sides of her personality and though childhood abuse has changed her, she has weaponized her trauma. Ariana is just as beautiful as she is deadly. My heart hurt for Ariana with every secret she revealed, with every wall she let down between her and Cash. Every bit of her pain was just another piece to the puzzle of this FMC. Her trauma was so severe and I had to cringe at parts that just made me so mad and sad about little Ariana. It made her finding happiness with Cash so much sweeter! I thought Ariana was funny, definitely in a dark way though. Sarcastic, jaded and sort of self-deprecating, I enjoyed her narrative.
The part I loved most about this story was how far Cash was willing to go to satisfy Ariana, to protect Ariana and to show Ariana that she is secure in his grasp (positive not negative!). This romance is dark, so his methods are a little *cough* unorthodox *cough*. Either way, I was obsessed with their dynamic. It’s a little bit painful to love either of these MCs. Pain is the price of their love. Plus virgin hero enamored with a promiscuous heroine… TELL. ME. MORE! I could not stop. Cash showed us his love for Ariana. He didn’t have to say a word. This man. Are… are we allowed to call dibs? Asking for a friend!
Love, love, loved this one so much! I definitely recommend this book to my dark romance lovers!

This book is technically slow burn but there is sexual content throughout the book often. It’s very spicy!
